Correspondence includes a letter (1835) from Beech Island Presbyterian Church asking him to become minister; letters (1834-1835) to and from Sarah Bennett, his future wife in Charleston (S.C.); philosophical letters (1835-1837) from Thomas Napier, his uncle; letters (1835-1836) concerning Sarah's confinement and the birth of a son, furnishing the parsonage, and family matters; letter (1835) about a fire in Charleston and the destruction of homes; and letters (1838) of condolence on Sarah's death.
